My First Quilt Along

My First Quilt Along

I’m SEW excited to announce that I’m going to be hosting my first quilt along! This is a FREE quilt along using a FREE pattern. I wrote this pattern back in January of 2022. At the time I was making a lot of quilts using layer cakes. I made this quilt for a client who wanted me to use colors and prints that were similar to an old quilt. A lot of the prints I found for the quilt were part of layer cakes. This left me with several squares from a few layer cakes. I also had a few squares leftover from this quilt. I wanted to design a pattern to make the most efficient use all of those pretty squares I had collected.

I would love for you to join me in this quilt along! It will run from July 5 – Augusy 30. Sign up here. You will get the information you need every week delivered right to your inbox.

You can see the schedule and more details here.

The pattern is my Checker Cakes quilt pattern. This quilt is both a checkerboard and a nine patch. If you look closely at the picture above, you’ll see that every block has an opposite match. For example the block on the left, second from the bottom has the same two prints as the one on the right, third from the bottom. The difference is that one has 5 high volume squares, and the other has 5 low volume squares. The top for this one is ~57″ x 66″.

That’s all I’ve got for today

As always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog!

I hope you enjoyed it.

You’re welcome! Pulling fabric is half the fun in a scrappy quilt. So, I thought it deserved as spot on the schedule!
