FREE Quilt Along coming soon!

FREE Quilt Along coming soon!

The quilt along from my Dublin Fancy Quilt pattern will be ending in a few days. BUT, I’ll be jumping right in to another quilt along a week after it ends. We’ll be using my Partial Dreams pattern for a FREE quilt along from May 8, 2024 – July 3, 2024. This quilt along is as FREE as I can make it! The quilt along part of my quilt alongs is always FREE, but we’ll be using a FREE pattern for this one too! I’d love for you to join my FREE Partial Dreams quilt along. You can sign up HERE. The pattern and schedule will be emailed to you after you sign up.

A little about why I wrote this pattern

I wrote this pattern as an easy way to practice partial seams. I make a lot of T-Shirt quilts, but I don’t use a set block size. I cut all of the pieces to the appropriate size for the graphics and then puzzle them together. You can see one of my T-Shirt quilts in the picture below. I get a lot of people asking me about how these go together.

There is definitely a lot to this process, but you can’t make one like that without partial seams. If you don’t know what a partial seam is, it’ll make sense when you read through the Partial Dreams pattern. Practicing partial seams for the first time on a puzzle style T-Shirt quilt is like learning to swim by jumping head first into the deep end. Sure, it works out for some people, but there’s definitely an easier and less scary way. My Partial Dreams pattern is a great way to practice partial seams, the easier and less scary way. I do have a blog post where I go over how to do the partial seams in the T-Shirt quilts. You can read that HERE and see it in action in my instagram post HERE.

Fabric Options

16 Fat Quarters for the foreground

The 16 Fat Quarter option for this one is nice because there is enough fabric to get an equal number of foreground strips from each fat quarter AND enough strips for a scrappy binding! I LOVE scrappy bindings! Some people have asked about the fabrics I used in my Fat Quarter version pictured above. Those lovely fabrics are Wholehearted by Melanie from Southern Charm Quilts. That fabric line will be back in stock in August and is currently on preorder in her shop, Meander + Make. AND, Melanie has generously agreed to be one of my quilt along sponsors and give a fat quarter bundle of Wholehearted to one lucky prize winner!

Here are the links (affiliate links) to get the fabrics to make a quilt that is very similar to mine:
-Foreground and Scrappy Binding: Preorder a Wholehearted Fat Quarter bundle
-Background: I used a subtle off white print from my stash, but a solid in an off white or other coordinating light color would look nice too! You can browse solids HERE.
-Backing: I used two lovely fabrics from Wholehearted for the backing, pictured below. You can preoder that yardage HERE. I used “Do Good Violet” and “Friendly Blushing”, 2.25 yards of each.

A Jelly Roll for the foreground

I originally wrote this one to use a jelly roll for the foreground plus yardage for the background. The jelly roll option will have 4 jelly roll strips left over. I like to work those leftover strips in with the rest of the binding to make a scrappy binding. I do love a good scrappy binding.

The first version of my Partial Dreams pattern pictured above, the Jelly Roll version, has found it’s way to a new home. So, I decided to use the Jelly Roll option for the quilt I’ll be making with you during the quilt along. I’ll be using Dazzle Dots by Christa Watson for Benartex. Benartex will be one of our quilt along sponsors. So, you’ll have a chance to win a Fat Quarter bundle of Dazzle Dots that they generously donated to this quilt along. You can see my Dazzle Dots Jelly Roll with my other fabrics for this quilt along in the picture below.

Custom Label for your Partial Dreams Quilt!

I’ve been having a lot of fun with getting graphics from my patterns put on custom quilt labels lately. I had one made for this quilt too! If you want one with your name on it, you can get it from Meander + Make HERE. There are labels for a few of my other patterns in that listing. So, be sure to choose “Partial Dreams Label” to get the one for this quilt as pictured below. Just FYI, when I say these are GREAT labels, I know this because I’ve order dozens of lables from Meander + Make, and I have never, not even once, been disappointed.

That’s all I’ve got for today

As always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog! AND thank you for participating in my Dublin Fancy Quilt Along.

I hope you enjoyed it.

I’m using a jelly roll that I’ve have for a long time, I have two of the same. I’m going to cut the four rectangles from the same strip. I want to make the quilt small (baby size) so I will be making two quilts out of these jelly rolls. I will be donating these quilts to a local animal rescue for their online auction in September.
