On the schedule for this week
This week we’re going to make 5 blocks. You can see my first five blocks in the picture above. I’m using some gorgeous fabrics from Meander and Make (affiliate link). I used fabrics from Clover and Ethereal for the quilt I’m making for the quilt along (affiliate links).
Pressing
I’m not a stickler for pressing. I say this a lot. It’s not that I don’t think pressing is important, it’s just that I am not going argue over the “right” way to press. I know why I use the techniques and tools I use, and I just assume other people have a good reason for doing things their way as well. I sort of feel silly putting pressing instructions in patterns because I know most people are going to ignore them and just do whatever they want to. I do put pressing instructions in the patterns for people who want them. BUT, there’s no way to keep everybody happy with these. I tend to just instruct to press the way I would do it with the disclaimer that you can always use another method if you prefer.
For someone who doesn’t get too worked up over pressing methods, I end up talking about it a lot. That’s because it’s probably the question I get asked the most when it comes to patterns. So, in the video on pressing units, I talk a little about things to consider when you choose your pressing method: reducing bulk, nesting seams, pressing to the dark side. Depending on the pattern, your fabrics, and fabric placement, you may not be able to address all of those concerns. So, sometimes you have to decide which is most important to you for the project you’re working on at the time.
Get a custom label for your quilt
I had some labels made for this pattern! If you want a custom Pinwheel Popper label with your name on it, you can get one! I order all of my labels from Melanie at Southern Charm Quilts/Meander and Make. They are great labels. You can get order your Pinwheel Popper Quilt label HERE (affiliate link). Use the coupon code SNUGGLEBUGSTITCHING at Meander and Make for 10% off.
