I finished another Partial Dreams Quilt! This one was supposed to be number 4, but I ended up getting a custom order for one of these quilts that took priority and knocked this one back to number 5. Just FYI, this is a FREE pattern!

There are so many things I love about this quilt: scrappy backing, scrappy binding, purple background… I already have a post on the scrappy backing, so we’ll leave that alone for today other than the picture below. You can read about the backing HERE.
So, let’s talk about the rest of this quilt.
The Quilt Top
The fabrics are all beautiful Benartex fabrics that were gifted to me by Missouri Star Quilt Company (affiliate link). The foreground was a jelly roll of “A Wildflower Heart” by Katie Daisy. The background was from “On Dragonfly Wings” by Ann Lauer. I love how the light purple background looked with that jelly roll.
Scrappy Binding
The jelly roll version of this quilt will give you (4) jelly roll strips left over. I like to use those extra strips in a scrappy binding. Jelly roll strips are perfect for binding! I was hesitant to do that this time because the leftover strips had large stripes. Matching up stripes in the binding is the reason I don’t use stripes for binding very often. These large stripes make it even more noticeable if they aren’t matched up. BUT, these stripes were too cute to pass up, so I ended up using them anyway. I also made a tutorial for this. There were only 4 jelly roll strips leftover; so I needed to cut few more strips. I had a little bit leftover from my background and cut a few strips from that. I also thought it would be fun to add in a splash of pink with that pale pink from “Chalk Texture”, one of Benartex’s basics lines.You can see my quilt top with batting and binding ready to go in the picture below.
The Quilting
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use pink, lime, or mint blue for the quilting thread. So, I got a little help from instragram and took a poll. “Rose Pink” was the winner. The thread is the polyester quilting thread from Missouri Star Quilt Company. I use this thread a lot for quilting. I love the soft shine, and it comes in SEW many pretty colors.
I wanted to quilt this one sort of densely. The first 4 versions of Partial Dreams had lighter quilting, so I thought it was about time to have a version with a little more. I use spirals a lot, and they seemed like a good idea for this quilt too.
