Checker Cakes Quilt: Quilts in the Wild

Checker Cakes Quilt: Quilts in the Wild

Some of you know that I recently returned from a little vacation with Mr. SnuggleBugStitching and the kiddos. We took a road trip out west and hit up some National Parks, the Alamo, and San Diego Zoo. It was great to get to spend some time the family visiting all those amazing places. With my Checker Cakes Quilt Along coming up soon, I thought it would be fun to take advantage of the beautiful places and get some quilt shots. My Checker Cakes quilt got to come along for the ride and get some glamour shots. Lots of random people got to see this quilt while I was bringing it out for photos in the parks. I like to think they were all super impressed by my mad ninja sewing skills, but they probably just thought I was weird. Oh well… If you like the posts with less words and more quilt pictures, this is a good one for you.

Before we get started on the pictures, you can sign up for the quilt along here. It starts on July 5th. The pattern is FREE and the quilt along is FREE. You can read a little more about it and view the schedule here.

Now for some quilt pictures!

This one was taken in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Fun fact: Mr. SnuggleBugStitching and I lived in Alamogordo a couple decades ago, pre-kids when he was in the Air Force. It was nice to see that area again.
This one was at the entrance to White Sands National Park in New Mexico, before you actually get to the dunes.
Also at the entrance to White Sands National Park. We got there early before it got too crowded. So, I thought it would be cute to get a shot of the quilt on the empty park bench.

This one is at Kings Canyon National Park in California. I didn’t get any quilt pictures with the big trees, but those mountains in the background are gorgeous. You can also the little SnuggleBug attempting to photobomb.
This one is at Zion National Park in Utah. The wind wasn’t cooperating for me to get a full shot, but I thought the mountains in the background made it worth posting anyway.

This one’s at the Grand Canyon! Arizona is a beautiful place!
I saw this neat little building at Agate Bridge in the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona and knew I needed to get a quilt shot in front of it.
Here we are back home in Alabama in my back yard!

That’s all I’ve got for today
