Here we are in Week 3 of our quilt along! This week, we’re going to be making 10 more blocks. If you’re just joining us, you can view the schedule here. I also have some posts with tips on cutting, chain piecing, and pressing if you want to check those out. There was a lot of information coming at you in Week 1 and Week 2, but all of those tips from Week 2 can be used for all of the blocks in the quilt along. Now that all of that is done, I can make the announcement I promised and tell you about the extra surprise prize for this week.
My Next Quilt Along
For my next quilt along, we will be using my newest pattern, Sound Waves Baby Quilt. This was originally the bonus pattern to use the leftover units from my Dublin Fancy Quilt pattern. I adapted it to make it a stand alone pattern. It is quick and easy to make. I decided to schedule this one to finish up just before Thanksgiving. I know that holidays are busy, and they can also be stressful. So, I decided to host a super easy quilt along to blow off some steam during a hectic time. Most of you could probably complete this quilt top in one afternoon. Our quilt along will be scheduled to finish the quilt top in Week 2. So, I’ll have a little more time to devote to helping you finish your quilt with posts on quilting/basting and binding. This quilt is a perfect present for new parents.
The extra surprise prize
The announcement for the next quilt along brings me to my next announcement – the extra surprise prize. The best thing about this prize is that unlike the other prizes in the quilt along, there is NO LIMIT to how many people can win it! I would love to give this prize to everyone in the quilt along and anyone else who wants it.
Some of you saw all of the posts on my Instagram about all of the places the SnuggleBugs visited on our road trip out west. I also have a blog post with all of those Quilt in the Wild shots here. While I was taking all of those pictures I noticed a little “mistake” in my original Checker Cakes quilt. This mistake gave me an idea for a find it game. I do find it games a lot on facebook with the quilting on my T-Shirt quilts. For this game, see if you can find my “mistake”. The prize for finding my mistake is a coupon code for 30% off any or ALL of my patterns. This is a great way to get a discount on the Sound Waves Baby Quilt pattern for our next quilt along as well as any other pattern in my shop. I will be doing more quilts alongs, so if there is a pattern you like, grab it while you have the discount.
Check out the picture below of my first Checker Cakes Quilt. See if you can find my “mistake” Hint: it’s not really a mistake. Look over my opposite matching pairs. One of the pairs has the prints in each block going in different directions. Once you find it, contact me to let me know which pair is a little directionally challenged. If you are correct, I will send you the coupon code. The code can be used through the duration of this quilt along. It can be used on multiple patterns at once, and you can use it multiple times as long as you use it before we wrap up this quilt along on August 30.
Our Regular Prize for this Week
The regularly scheduled prize for this week is going to be another fat quarter bundle that I cut myself from my Kona Cotton stash.
To be eligible for prizes:
– You must be following me @snugglebugstitching on Instagram and post progress pictures for the week on Instagram by Tuesday at 5:00 PM Central Time. You must tag me @snugglebugstitching in your posts and use the #checkercakesqal.
-I will announce the winner on Instagram and tag the lucky quilt alonger so that they know they’ve won. The winner will have one week to contact me to claim the prize. Any unclaimed prizes will be forfeited.
I’ve got an extra prize next week, in addition to the one I initially had planned. The best part is that anyone who wants it can win this prize. There is NO LIMIT to how many people can win! The way to win this one will be a game, sort of a find it game. That’s all the hints.
