Finished Quilt – Summer in the Park

Finished Quilt – Summer in the Park

Here is a Summer in the Park quilt. The quilt top can be made with two jelly rolls, one print and one solid.

The Summer in the Park pattern was on my list of things I wanted to make for this year. I saw that Wilmington Prints jelly roll, and knew it needed to be my Summer in the Park quilt. Sometimes your insight serves you well. That’s one of those nerd quotes I warned you about =). Comment if you know what movie it’s from and/or the character who said it.

I’ve actually used that fabric line before in a Framed Pinwheels Quilt, and I loved it so much that I just had to use it again.

I made the quilt top without a real plan for the binding and backing. I was actually waiting on fabrics to arrive for a custom order, so I decided to see if I could get the top pieced before the stuff I needed for my next order arrived, and I was so glad I was able to finish this one on that timeline!

I was very fortunate to have been able to get a buyer for this one before it was finished, so my client made all the decisions for everything else after the quilt top. Time to brag on my clients for a little bit. They really are great fabric pickers and quilt designers. I love the look of the blue gingham binding on the red gingham backing. She also requested the strawberry quilting design as well as the fun blue thread color, and on top of all that, she even picked the decorative stitch for the binding in shiny red thread.

This one was a fun quilt to make in general, and I was able to learn something new. I’d never quilted strawberries before, so I was happy to try a new design and pleased with how they turned out. I even got another quilt out of it because I made a baby quilt to practice the strawberries on. Win, win, win, win…!!!
