Finished Quilt – Another Floral Quilt

Finished Quilt – Another Floral Quilt

This one is another one of my simple squares floral quilts, a commissioned quilt. I actually made this one a couple months ago, but I’m just now getting to blog about it. This is the quilt that I get the most requests for. You can see some of my previous versions of this quilt here, here, here, and here.

This quilt is a little different than some of the others because of the different color scheme. Unlike the others, this one doesn’t have any pink or yellow. The client chose the green, blue, greige, and beige color scheme based on this quilt. I was so excited when he asked me if I could use a lot of those prints again. A lot of the prints in this one are from the “Dover” line by Brenda Riddle Designs for Moda Fabrics. I love this line because the colors and prints are so calming.

The Quilting

This was a new quilting design for me. The client wanted something unique and told me to feel free to experiment with the quilting design. This is something all quilters love to hear when you ask us to make you a custom quilt.

I was so excited by this. I’ve been eyeing the scrolls on my living room area rug for a while now, wanting to play around with getting that design onto a quilt. I’m happy with how it turned out, and I think I’ll probably use it again soon!

The Binding

I chose to make the binding with a light beige print. I used this design for the backing as well. I thought it turned out nicely with the color scheme of the squares. I attached my binding to the back of the quilt, flipped it over to the front, and nailed it down with a decorative stitch. I have been using decorative stitches for binding for a while now, and I love doing my binding that way. I talk a little about why using a decorative stitch for binding is a great idea here and here.

Where to get stuff

This quilt is already, sold, shipped out, and in it’s new home, but you can order your own custom, simple square floral quilt here.

If you want to dive in and make your own quilt, you’ll need to get some fabrics. I am always able to find lovely, high quality fabrics at Fat Quarter Shop. Check out their Flash Sale for a great deal.

Everyone always asks me where I get my labels made, so I include that link on here a lot. I get them custom made by Melanie at Meander + Make. Melanie was nice enough to give me a coupon code to share with you. Use the code SNUGGLEBUGSTITCHING for 10% off!

As always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog!

I hope you enjoyed it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a comment or email me. I’d love to hear from you.

Happy quilting!
